Doug Bisbee, workshop presenterAfter overwhelming response to our Assessing and Managing Suicide Risk training held in January, Samaritan Counseling has scheduled an additional AMSR training for April 12, 2016, at Appleton Medical Center from 8:00 am-4:00 pm. The workshop  will include 6 1/2 hours of training by certified AMSR instructor Doug Bisbee, M.Div., MA LPC.

A Women's Symposium: Taking Care of Our Men’s Mental Health

Dr. Sally Spencer-Thomas and other presenters will provide a learning opportunity tailored to women designed to build awareness of the high risk of suicide to middle-aged men, eliminate the stigma of mental illness, and teach the signs of depression and anxiety. We will discuss QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer), the evidence-based practice of suicide prevention, and provide tools to develop workplace plans. Resource/Information booths open 8:30-9:30.

This “Honest, Open and Proud” Workshop offers an exciting opportunity for for families and individuals living with mental illness to learn how to share their stories and provide education that helps eliminate the stereotypes, prejudice and discrimination that make up the stigma of mental health conditions.
