Great work has already been started on this in our community. Our goals are to continue to make sure that we don't have duplication and that this effort continues to receive the funding that is required to sustain it. We also want to ensure that there are tight connections for students who may need to be referred out of the schools for appropriate services.
To improve access to mental health services for area youth, United Way, Catholic Charities, Family Services, and Lutheran Social Services have collaborated to develop a school-based mental health access program called PATH. There is a plan to provide this program in ten school districts in the Fox Cities by the 2012-2013 school year. NEW Mental Health Connection has a committee that it working on this initiative as part of our overall objective of strengthening the mental health systems in the Fox Cities. We see ourselves helping to coordinate and champion the work of the organizations delivering these services.
